Alec MacDonald

Alec MacDonald is known locally as Alec Valtos, Valtos being the village where he lives. He was born and bred on Skye. He attended primary school in Staffin and his secondary education was at Portree High School. On leaving high school, he spread his wings and attended college in Edinburgh for four years. Due to family matters, however, he ended up coming home in 1986 and has been living and working there ever since.

His work is all Gaelic-related. Alec works four days a week as a Language Coordinator for the Highland Council’s Education Department. Every Friday, he lectures at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, an arm of the University of the Highlands and Islands, and on Friday evenings he finds himself presenting a music request and talk show on BBC’s Radio nan Gaidheal.

Alec also runs the family croft in Valtos.

This is Alec's second trip to our Féis, so we know what kind of a treat his classes are in for.
