||Seirm at the Vancouver Gaelic Society Céilidh
Seirm will be performing all the songs and dance tunes we have been preparing for our Spring Concert and Dance as the entertainment for the Vancouver Gaelic Society’s céilidh on the evening of May 3rd, 2014 at the Scottish Cultural Centre at 8886 Hudson Street in Vancouver, BC. We have a full evening’s worth of music to share, so additional musical contributions will be welcomed at receptions, workshops, after-parties, after-after-parties, etc.
Massed Choir Songs
Back in the days of Mòd Vancouver, one of the highlights was singing as a massed choir. All competing choirs would learn a set of arrangements of certain songs which we would perform en masse at the end of the final concert. We’re going to get into the spirit of those group musical efforts by inviting those who participated in any of the three local choirs in the past to join us in singing the following:
We will arrange for a run-through / meet-and-greet on the Saturday afternoon for everyone who is planning to sing the massed choir numbers with us. We do mean everyone. If anyone needs copies of the arrangements, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
- Gleann Bhaile Chaoil
- Sìne Bhàn
- Oidhche Mhath Leibh
- Chí Mi na Morbheanna (melody only)
Our band will be providing live dance music after the singing is done. We have sets of tunes prepared for these dances:
Please bring your dancing shoes!
- The Gay Gordons
- Strip the Willow
- Canadian Barn Dance
- The Dashing White Sergeant
Additional activities, if they occur, may incur costs. Please stay in touch with us for more details on that front. more info
